Set in Grand Rapids, Michigan (Van Allsburg’s home town), The Polar Express tells the story of a young boy who wakes up on the night of Christmas Eve to a surprise – but rather than Santa, it is a train that is waiting for him. Children and adults alike enjoy the boy’s magical journey through forests and mountains to the North Pole in the adventure of a lifetime. Crafts and snacks are provided.
Greenville Symphony Orchestra. December 21-23, Peace Concert Hall.
The Nutcracker is a favorite holiday tradition for many. Follow the story of young Clara as she sneaks down on Christmas night to check on her beloved nutcracker doll, only to get wrapped up in a whirlwind, whimsical adventure with the Nutcracker Prince. They travel through the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets, meeting the Sugar Plum Fairy, and facing off with the Mouse King. With the International Ballet Company and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, this iteration of the classic tale is sure to be a new family favorite.
Christmas Inn Our Town

It’s a Wonderful Life

Based on the classic Frank Capra film, It’s a Wonderful Life tells the story of George Bailey, a down-and-out man who is uplifted by the appearance of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody. Through this fantasy journey, George Bailey learns just how important the giving spirit is during the holiday – and how important he is to his community and loved ones. Greenville Little Theatre’s performance of this beloved tale is sure to be a family-pleaser.
